Always our first Pinot noir release of the vintage the Willamette Valley bottling gives us our first look at the vintage and now that the wine is in bottle our early excitement about the 2010 vintage is confirmed! The great structured acidity is a reminder of the long, cool growing season while the forward fruit reminds us of the early accessibility of 2009′s. Sourced from Illahe Vineyard, Eola Springs Vineyard, Hidden Rocks Vineyard, and Mahonia Vineyard. Aged for 11 months in 10% new French oak barrels and the remainder in older French oak barrels. Ca. 1650 cases were bottled.

This wine is rich with cocoa, black currant and clearly defined cherry, lavender and olive flavors. The palate is full-bodied with minerality and great acidity. Chewy complex tannins couple with wonderful nuances to form a sophisticated mid-palate and long, complex finish.

Clear light ruby with a brick tint. Nose of smoke, cherry, and a little menthol. Medium palate of bright, tangy cherry with licorice and minerals. Decent length. Tart acidity. Grippy, young tannins.

This vintage has a cherry colour, a medium-high deep ith violet rims. Fresh aromas. High fruity notes (blackcurrant), liquorice, and toasty notes from noble woods. Velvet and tasty. The youth and oak ageing are well balanced This is a mature and round wine.
